Monday's Musing: Eyes Wide Open
We were kind of in a cleaning mode this weekend or at least on Saturday. I had definite plans of what I wanted to do and how I was going to do it.
I was just about to start putting down the new liner for the cabinet under the kitchen sink when The Hubby asked me to come upstairs because he was wanting to work on getting some stuff out of the bedroom. Specifically two comforters that have been sitting on the top of the dog crate AND the dog crate itself, which I want left right where it is because I want the dog to start sleeping in there at night.
I told him that I was about to start working on the kitchen shelf and he said "well, this will only take a minute." I surprised myself by saying "well, then it can be done later...I'm about to start working on lining the shelf under the kitchen sink." (VICTORY!)
He stood there with a stunned look on his face and then went upstairs. A little while later he comes down with the comforters and put them in the middle of the living room. I guess since the Mohammed wouldn't come to the mountain, he thought he would bring the mountain to Mohammed.... :-/
There were other little incidents like this all through the weekend. He expected an argument when he went into the washroom and organized some stuff in there. I just ignored what he was doing and bit my tongue because he doesn't wash clothes, so things are the way I want them in the washroom...and he messed everything up...but okey dokey....I saw that he was trying to get me to say something so he could pull his passive aggressive sh*t again, but this time my eyes were wide open.
Anyway, it's a bit empowering to finally see someone for who they are. I knew this all along, but I haven't been willing (strong enough?) to not keep falling into the trap. I have to say...I like this new me and I hope she hangs around for a while.
I just might...get my life back...
